In recent times, there has been an increasing number of tourists travelling for leisure which pose detrimental impact to foreign countries. Although it can be argued that tourism is beneficial, I personally believe that it is extremely disadvantageous in regards to environmental damage.
Proponents may argue that tourism can effectively boost economic profits of a developing country. Historical and cultural attractions appeal many tourists to their countries and through costly entrance fees and travel package deals, many of these countries leverage on their ancient heritage for tourist revenue to build their economy. A case in point is how Bali, a developing country, predominately depend on tourist profits based on traditional Balinese dances and ceremonies. As a result, tourism extensively promote underprivileged countries that embodies strong cultural values and prehistoric places.
Nonetheless, there are harmful environmental risks due to immense tourist turnover. Large number of people travelling to a foreign place result in severe overcrowding. This can exacerbate land pollution in regards to littering irresponsibly on the streets or water pollution when plastics are discarded during visits to oceanic sites. Tourism also increases the usage of vehicles which releases harmful pollutants to the surroundings and indirectly cause damage to historical buildings. A case in point is how the limestone architecture of Taj Mahal, a well-known attraction in India, is slowly disintegrating due to accumulation of pollutants from vehicles. Therefore, increasing trend of tourism pose serious environmental damage to countries.
To encapsulate, though tourism benefits countries economically, it can severely cause negative environmental impacts. Government and corporations should, however, be more considerate towards promoting conservation of environment through enforcement of tourist laws and regulations.

With the advent of technologies, the number of people traveling abroad not for business issues, but rather for personal joy has increased ever before, which is believed to have a destructive effect on touristic countries, with which I completely disagree for the following reasons.
Firstly, the country tourism segment leads to its financial prosperity and higher rates of employment. Providing new recreational services for tourists increases the need for new job places and hiring more personnel. Moreover, the local underprivileged part of society can produce souvenirs and other memorable touristic items for visitors to purchase, which adds indirect income and steadily leads to stable financial conditions. The UAE can be a great model to this, since this country over the one-decade period was able to pose leading positions in the list of affluent states highly depending on its visitors.
Secondly, tourism assists in the expansion of cultural integration and values. By visiting countries, travelers interact with the culture, traditions, and people of that country, which thereby leads to the preservation of certain national values and their transfer and popularization in other countries. As an example, Khan atlas, national traditional food “Plov” in Uzbek culture are already known in other countries, moreover, the former one started to be used in prominent fashion collections which proves the issue regarding cultural expansion.
However, some proponents may say that visitors can abuse or have a distributive effect on local culture and values by not following local moral regulations which can be prevented by posing fines and information campaigns for the prevention of such unpleasant cases.
In conclusion, tourism has always should be accepted as a positive development for the countries as it increases the number of workplaces eliminating poverty in a country and spreads cultural values to other nations.
