IELTS Essay: Letter to a Landlord
Write a letter to your landlord complaining about noise in the block of flats which he owns. Include
Where you live
The problem
What he should do
Dear Mr. Sanders,
My name is Dave and I’m your tenant at the Sunny Villa apartment complex. I’ve been living here for the last two years in apartment 52 in Block C, one of the apartments overlooking the main street.
I’m writing because I have some complaints about recent noise levels. It has always been a noisy area but is getting worse because of renovation construction in the apartment above me and new neighbors next to me. The construction has been going on for a couple of months and they are inconsiderate about early mornings when I’m usually still sleeping. The neighbors that just moved in next to me a month ago are also in the habit of hosting loud parties every Saturday night.
I’d like you to talk to the building management to see how long the remodeling will be going on for and if they can stick to more regular and decent working hours. As for the adjacent neighbors, I’ve already spoken with them to no avail so I’d recommend you also mention this to the management for them to deal with it.
Thanks for helping out,
Dave

Write a letter to a friend who just moved into a new house that you are sending a gift to. Include
What the gift is
Why you chose it
How it will be delivered
Hi dave,
is this a semi-formal letter? should it be?
It depends – I think it could safely to grouped in semi-formal though some people might write it more formally (and others more informally), Nastaran.
I have been living in the Royal apartment block since 2 years ago and I’m writing to thank you for this convenient flat and ask you a favor. As you know the block is located on the overcrowded Baltimore Street. my apartment is on the third floor and looks out onto the lovely back garden.
The big problem that I have encountered recently is the high interior noise levels in the block. two of the neighborhoods have dogs and the animals are barking all night. I know they have the right to keep them but their noise is really annoying. Furthermore, this frightening noise is quite scary for my little girl. and bearing this pressure is beyond our ability to endure.
I will be appreciated if you ask them to respect the apartment rules and keep the dogs quiet, especially at night. I think they should be kept inside the owner’s flat and not be allowed to go to the terrace.
regards,
Ebi
