Thanks for reporting about your exam! There is no task achievement score for speaking so it will not have much of an impact. If you often answer the wrong question then it will hurt your fluency score but I wouldn’t worry about answering slightly off topic once or twice. How did the rest of your test go?

Was that the general training exam?
The arguments and counter arguments between government officials and parents on who is responsible for transportation of school going children, specifically in the public schools, has been going on for several years now. The recent controversial statements from some who hold public office in education ministry have only heated this topic further.
I firmly believe that transporting children going to public schools is government’s responsibility. There are several reasons for that.
The most important is that every child has right to education. And the lack of resources or various personal scenarios of the parents, such as paucity of funds, lack of driving skills, physical disabilities etc, should not be a deterrent for children to be able to travel to school.
Another serious side effect of asking parents to drop their wards to school is clogging of roads in the schools vicinity. Some of the schools are located in the busy roads. If all the parents in schools having thousands of children were to drop and pick-up their kids, traffic management for those roads will be a nightmare.
Not to mention that there could be several other major concerns such safety, environment pollution and noise pollution
Despite the obvious negative impacts, why the government and other public officials in school boards argue that the parents must be responsible to transport their children to schools?
The primary reason cited by them is the efficient use of tax payers money to impart the education itself rather than using funds for logistics such as transportation and food.
I find these arguments appalling, to say the least. Every child has a fundamental right to school education and the ability to be able to travel to school is an important contributor for the same. Government must look for ways and means to facilitate it, at the same time saving the environment the citizens live in.
Good effort but you need to clean up your paragraphing!
Try to write it in either 4 or 5 paragraphs.
That way you can develop each of your main ideas fully.

This one is a bit different but I would focus on one side why ads are good and useful for parents.
And the other side, how children are vulnerable to ads.

An increasing number of people are choosing to spend time watching media on their own at home as opposed to sharing this recreational activity with someone else. Although this practice results in a more immersive and conflict-free experience, it could also induce prolonged viewing time and social isolation.
Solitary film viewing offers complete immersion. It allows one to completely engage in a film with less interruptions since there is no one else in the room to voice out unnecessary side comments that often break the immersive experience. There is also no need to click on pause when your peers need to take a bathroom break. As a result, this habit induces a more engaging environment for viewers. Aside from that, this habit also avoids conflict with others. Audiences might have opposing views that could often lead to arguments, or worse – fights. In 2019, some of the live spectators in the NBA were caught in video trashing the Golden State Arena, pouring popcorns and drinks on seats after their supported teams lose the league. This is an event that could have been avoided if supporters have watched on their own within their homes.
Meanwhile, the disadvantages mainly relate to psychological and social factors. Watching alone could result in prolonged screen time. Without distractions from other audiences, it is much easier to lose track of time and ultimately, watch on a run, thereby resulting in losing precious hours that could have been allotted to more important undertakings. For instance, Netflix encourages members to binge watch that it even plays an episode automatically right after one is over and due to this I sometimes do not realize how late it already is unless my roommate reminds me. Furthermore, this practice is highly conducive to social isolation and this habit could be replicated towards other aspects of life. If a person believes that it is more satisfying to spend some TV time alone, he might also think that he is much better off alone with other activities which could have undesirable social effects.
In conclusion, consuming videos alone is beneficial when someone is wishing for an enthralling and peaceful viewing experience. However, being too engaged could result to increase screen time and aloneness. Therefore, finding a balance is extremely vital.

If it asks for advantageS/disadvantageS (plural) or causeS and solutionS then you need 2.
For all other questions, it is more logical to focus on 1, fully developed. 2 is fine as well as long as you develop them but it doesn’t help in any way.

Nevertheless, it should be seen as a positive development as it allows current planet citizens to save a bulk of time and avoid uncomfortable situations.
Such a modern issue is normally rooted in many grouds, one of which in my perspective is the busy lifestyle of the modern employees. This means that contemporary workers are obliged by the companies to work hard and spent a bulk of their time in a workplace, while at the same time suffers from the shortage of time to choose appropriate gifts according to their own preferences or budget. So instead to squander valuable time looking for a gift and try to guess what kind of present would be suitable and desired for the receiver.
Consider the origin of so knotty issue, necessary to underline the positive effect of this modern trend. To begin with, the fact that presenter has the opportunity to save an outsized amount of time and energy, which could then successfully devoted on a celebration special event, rather on a search appropriate gift. Moreover, those who receive the money as a gift will have a range of opportunities to spend it or save it on a more significant issue. Both aforementioned facts would eventually have a beneficial impact on a receiver as on a donator and allow them to enhance their social bonds without additional effort and uncomfortable confusion.

Sometimes you don’t have to phrase it like an opinion (if it is problem/solution or a two-part question) but those are still opinions and to be safe you can phrase everything: ‘In my opinion’
If you’re not sure, just check the official band descriptors and look for the word ‘position’.

I took the 26/10 computer exam and from what I can remember:
Writing task 2- Advertisements have become increasingly popular in recent years. Is this a positive or negative change? (Despite being a straightforward question I struggled with paraphrasing a longer introduction)
Writing task 1 has been a table comparing the percentage of women working in parliament in 5 different regions, during 3 different years (1990,1997,2005), as compared to the rest of the world (bottom column had “world” variant, with one year the world being at a lower percentage than another country, I think that might confuse students who assume the world/total variant should always have a higher percentage)
Speaking, I was asked the generic questions of “are you a student or working, do you like your job, what is your favourite furniture in your house, have you ever been gifted a piece of furniture ”, etc.
Part 2 of speaking, I was asked to describe traditions in my country
Part 3 I was asked “do many people in your country follow tradition, do you think this has a positive effect? What are the negative effects of tradition?”

A friend would be informal and a co-worker is a bit more formal but not too formal.

Yes, but just in the reading and writing task 1 and 2.
Reading is slightly less academic.
Writing task 2 also has less academic questions – otherwise basically the same.
Writing task 1 is the big difference – you write a letter instead of writing about a graph/process/map.

The world is evolving at a fast pace and the major contributions is by the advancement in the machinery and tools being used. With that being said, many occupations are witnessing automation in their industries leading to many job losses. I will be discussing both the advantages and disadvantages in this essay.
A lot of industries have benefitted by the introduction of newer technologies. For example, in the recent decades, the automobile industry has seen huge surge in car sales. Although the demand is increasing by 5% every year, it could have been a herculean task to fulfil the demand with the help of physical manpower. This task is now easily achievable with the help of industrial robots who are not only efficient but also very precise along with being fully autonomous.
On the other hand, having a lot of dependency on machines has been proven to be dangerous as mechanical failures are inevitable and might cause unwanted delays. Whereas, a human workforce can adapt to changes and can repurpose themselves. For example, if a car company is planning to fulfil customer orders by manufacturing cars and their production site goes down due do a mechanical glitch in their automated plant. It might take a long time to fix and this will cause unwanted delays resulting in financial losses to the companies. This will also create a negative impression on the brand and also tarnish the image of the leadership team.
The machines might be efficient in getting repeated tasks completed but are not agile as humans when it comes to handling unforeseen challenges.
Give suggestion, what would be better for me either practicing all topics or recent topics for writing?
It makes no difference actually. Sometimes topics are reused but they are likely to be from more than a year ago.

Hello Dave, your essays are very useful and i am doing my writing preparation form this only. However, I have one question, Can you please let me know if it is ok to write, In my opinion in introduction itself in all types of essays whether it is adv & disadv or agree & disagree?
Yes, it is totally fine and the reason that I do it is in the band descriptors. Band 7 for task achievement states you should have a clear position ‘throughout’ – so it is good practice.
If you do it in later body paragraphs and the conclusion, it should be ok if you are worried about having it in the intro.

I believe that IELTS has different topics for regions, not for countries.
I get these reports from students around the world, so it depends.
To be honest, it doesn’t really matter since none of them are predictions – just past ones. You could practice with ones from years ago or a day ago and that would be the same.
I think students are just curious about the most recent so I post them, but it has no impact on practice where/when the questions were.

A). Nowadays people enjoy Cinema, Television as well as other shows alone, not with family or friends. In my opinion, this change negatively affects mankind. This essay would be discussing both merits and demerits.
To embark on, people do watch pictures, TV, and other programs for entertainment. In the olden days, every family member or friend used to sit together and watch telecasting films or events with a lot of discussions and chit-chatting, which made the day happier, refreshed and strengthened the bond among the group. But now it has changed by the invasion of technology. Moreover, Nowadays flexibility matters so that each individual uses their mobile phones for watching anything they want regardless of time and place at the tip of their hands, which makes everything easy. For example, watching movies in a moving vehicle during a trip or on the way to work will help people to pass the time. At the same time, the source for entertainment in the phone breached the limits of boundaries. In addition, the cost of internet accessibility is cheaper than a TV connection and subscription. At the same time, people do not need to wait for anyone else’s time and availability. Furthermore, introverts depend on internet-connected gadgets for refreshing their minds.
On the other hand, every time technological advancement has negative effects more than positives. Firstly, electricity bills will be high in every home due to the over usage of smart appliances. Additionally, people became addicted and less aware of the world around them. Nevertheless, sometimes the single life in phones might create mental issues. For instance, the children who find happiness in watching videos on mobile devices like laptops, tablets etc might have developmental problems or they become less social.
To conclude, solitude may generate some issues in a personal and healthy life. The adverse effects of finding happiness or refreshment alone outshine the positives.

It is always debatable issue whether earning huge amount of money at work is more important than the pleasure you get from the job. From my perspective, I would completely agree that the salary is important than Job satisfaction. This essay will discuss the reasons for the point of views
To begin with, every individual initiates working for the need of money. Having a big salary jog is more important than the kind of work we do. With the money we earn, we can fulfill all our needs which gives us happiness; Hence, it may not be very important to have the job satisfaction. To exemplify, we can spend lavishly in buying a luxurious car or a dream house, which gives us immense pleasure which job may not give.
Additionally, we spend only few hours at work which may not impact our happiness to that extent. However, we will have plenty of other time which we can spend with our family, which is more important these days to develop bonding. From the family point of view. For instance, a recent study shows that people who love their job spend more time at work, which in turn ruins their personal life for not spending quality time with their family.
In conclusion, after a thorough analysis of this topic, although job satisfaction is important, huge salaries definitely make difference in individuals life. I believe it is essential to be happy with what ever kind of work we do because at the end it is the money we are working for.
