Film stars and celebrities often share their views on public matters that have little to do with their profession.
Is this a positive or negative development?
It is common for famous figures with large platforms to share their viewpoints on various topics. In my opinion, though there is potential for abuse, it is a positive overall as they can contribute diverse perspectives.
Critics of the publicity celebrities receive for their comments argue they are not always well informed. There are experts in every field, ranging from politics and science to sports and the arts and yet stars in the entertainment world possess outsized platforms. For instance, many actors, athletes, and singers have become part of the anti-vaccination movement. The views of health experts and epidemiologists are often subordinated to celebrity comments more likely to generate online traffic and ratings. However, this argument is undermined by research showing that professionals are notoriously poor at making predictions concerning their own area of expertise.
Moreover, celebrities in film and music engender diversity. The entertainment world, relative to other professional spheres, is made up of a wide variety of ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. Most actors move to Hollywood from a different part of the world and then later become stars. In the music industry, listeners actively seek out new voices, styles, nationalities, and personalities. These individuals can then provide the average person an insightful glimpse into another part of society. The most recent example of this would be the awareness raised related to environmental issues by various singers and actors when they accept awards.
In conclusion, although there is risk that celebrities will be uninformed on a topic, their opinions are still important as they are typically candid, authentic, and diverse. In this era of inclusivity, it is important to value all viewpoints.

Some people think that famous people can help international aid organizations to draw attention to important problems. Others believe that the celebrities can make the problems seem less important.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
“The views of health experts and epidemiologists are often subordinated to celebrity comments more likely to generate online traffic and ratings.”
Can you explain the grammatical components of this sentence, please? Thank you!
In this sentence subordinated means ‘made less’ so it means that the views of experts are disregarded in order to get good ratings.
Is that clear, T?
This is relatively tough topic. Nice work Dave!
There is a phonomenon that more and more film actors and famous people express their ideas about some problems that they are not good at. In my opinion, it would confuse some teenagers and further be harmful for education.
There are lots of fans who are crazy about certain stars or celebrities. Most fans are teenagers, who have time to learn about their idols and catch up with their news. In the age that should receive education, they may tend to believe the knowledge that they like. Therefore, the statements from idols may be trusted by fans instantly. There would be confusion for teenagers if the statements from stars are different from the textbooks or experts. It may be hard for teenagers to classify true and fake knowledge, which may lead to a decreased performance in school.
Moreover, students may consider that experts and teachers are wrong because of the difference between what they believe to be the stars and what they actually say. As a result, their values may be distracted by a worsening direction. For example, there was a famous game player in China before. He seemed to cheat in a game during a live show. Some people posted the evidence on the Internet, which led to a strong attack from this player. Never the less, he gathered some of his fans and aroused them to say some dirty words to those who found evidence. As a result, he was prohibited by the government from gathering his fans to do things that were unacceptable.
In sum, famous people should distribute values that are accepted by the public rather than publish comments that are not their business, as such behavior would distract teenagers and have a negative influence on education. In addition, educational departments should try to collaborate with stars and educate teenagers together.
