Parents are advised to uptake parenting courses to take care of their kids. Although it can be argued that it is unnecessary, I personally believe that it will be beneficial.
Those who decry the claim point out that parenting courses do not necessarily cater to every child’s personality development. Parents should understand that each kid is unique and instead, focus on the child’s way of expression and interpretation of their emotions, such as using sign languages during the toddler phase for easier communication, to educate them with proper values and principles. Subsequently, parents find limited information in these courses regarding child behaviours, like attention deficit hyperactivity or dyslexic disorders, and therefore acutely focusing on the generalization of all child personalities. It becomes less varied in kids’ upbringing and thus, parents should not fully rely on these courses for relevant methods.
Nonetheless, these courses are not designed for every child but primarily to guide parents in bringing up their kid. New parents nowadays have insufficient guidance to parenting because of preference towards nuclear family household and therefore these courses are specifically designed to develop their kid emotionally and physically to cope with the increasingly competitive society. The upcoming generation of children are intellectually inclined in honing qualities promptly and this hinders parents from communicating and engaging with their children more effectively. For instance, courses are developed to educate parents on how social media, such as YouTube Kids, can be advantageous in a child’s growth. Therefore, these courses help new-age parents to understand child psychology and accommodate their discipline methods for better improvement in the lives of their children.
To encapsulate, though courses may seem restricted to methods of child upbringing, I believe that it strongly helps parents to understand parenting techniques and strengthening their bond with the kid. Government should, however, introduce courses that cover all kids’ personalities.
